Great Honk!
Hey Bagel Friends,
I didn’t expect to be sending out a message so quickly on the heels of my previous newsletter, but I thought I should address what happened in the delivery preorders for Friday….YOU HAPPENED! And fast. GREAT HONK!!
By 8:00 all my capacity was filled. As I’m currently also the driver, I can only handle 25 deliveries in a day. Unfortunately that left a bunch of you unable to order. As I mentioned in my previous message, I’m going to be slow with this, and as Thanksgiving is coming up soon, the kitchen space I’m renting from will be occupied with their own business, I will only have two or three more delivery days until after Thanksgiving. I know that’s not a lot, but I promise to make more available after.
In addition, I’ve heard from a bunch of you that you’re bummed I’m primarily focusing on the east side. As such, I will also begin adding Seattle and North East Seattle delivery or drop days. Finally for you Seattle Folks, I’m psyched to have a popup December 2nd at Ghost Note Coffee at 10am until sold out. I’ll remind you don’t worry.
Get Notified…Preorder.
Okay, so I am working with this really cool young online delivery solutions provider called Bottle. They’re great, and so nimble that they will put requests I have and have learned over the years on their dev schedule. One of the things I really love is that when you order you can choose a membership tier. Not a big thing, but it puts you in the system if you choose to be notified when ordering is open for specific dates or if I’m launching a new product.
In any case if you sign up for these notifications, you will get a text message with a personal link to your account so you can order quick and easy.
Drops
25 deliveries was a lot. Too many really. To get a warm bagel to each person was basically impossible. Therefore I’d like to try a “Drop.” Basically it’s a pickup location for pre-orders. I’ll post up at a location for about 2 hours. The earlier you pick it up the closer to coming out of the oven the bagels will be. Let’s give it a go. Below are two of the first of these:
Thursday Nov. 2nd, 10 am - Mercer Island Park & Ride
Wednesday November 8th, 11am - Hello Robin Cookies - University Village (BTW…if you haven’t had their cookies you’re missing out!!).
The same link as above will also take you to the pre-order page.
The Guest House Pop-up
Finally, I just want to thank Kevin at the Guest House Restaurant in Kenmore and of course all of you who showed up. Good grief that was fast. I thought I made enough bagels. 600 in an hour! (Oh, also gotta thank my cousin Marge who somehow knew I could use help and helped me bag bagels)
We will for sure do another one there in the future.
Thank you to everyone who took time to write me kind notes in response to my last email and to the popup. Fills my cup more than you know.
I cannot express to you enough how much I wish for peace.
Bagel ON!
Andrew
