We Are the Champions
BEST BAGEL!!!
We went down to LA for Bagelfest West, and we came back champions!! Took home top honors for best bagel and best sourdough bagel. I’m so proud. And so proud of the team.
The weekend was super fun. I brought my 22 yr old son with me, and we were joined by my oldest sister. When we weren’t bageling, we ran around to variously highly regarded restaurants. So good!
I was pretty anxious in the weeks leading up to this. I didn’t want to spend all this time, and money, and then raise my teams expectations and not come back with something. After a lot of hand wringing, I decided to bring frozen bagels. I packed up 160 bagels and 100 lbs of schmear, loaded them on the plane and headed south.
Best laid plans, worked out best. The Wilshire BLVD Temple is so beautiful and so well equipped. With a kitchen near the hall, I first baked the plain bagels for the judging. Then when the crowds (1000 attendees), showed up we kept running back and forth rebaking bagels for the best hottest experience. This is also a testament to our reheating instructions….our bagels reheat from frozen like CHAMPS!
There are so many great bagel shops, and some dished up super chefy sandwiches. Very impressed. Very happy to be part of this community.
Since then we’ve had some really nice press. Both The Seattle Times and Food & Wine published some exciting pieces.
